Ellen Pompeo shocked followers in 2023 when it was introduced that she’d be leaving ABC’s longest-running medical drama collection, Gray’s Anatomy.

Pompeo has starred as one of many present’s titular characters, Meredith Gray, since its pilot episode in 2005. Nearly a decade later and even after saying her departure, Pompeo made occasional appearances in quite a few episodes.

In 2020, the actress, now 55, admitted that she continued to star within the present due to the monetary stability it gave her.

“I made a decision to make money,” Pompeo mentioned in an episode of Spotify’s Jemele Hill is Unbothered podcast.

Pompeo reportedly earned US$20 million yearly from the present, per Parade.

“For me, personally, a healthy home life was more important than a career,” she mentioned within the podcast. “I didn’t grow up with a particularly happy childhood. So the idea that I have this great husband and these three beautiful children [and] a happy home life was really something I needed to complete.”

Pompeo has been married to Chris Ivery since 2007 and the couple share three kids.
